The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, was on Saturday, August 22, 2026 honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th anniversary edition of Nigeria Most Influential Awards.

The award which took place in Abuja was in recognition of CGC Adeniyi’s transformative leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), particularly his contributions to trade facilitation, revenue generation, technology-driven reforms and institutional repositioning.

After receiving the award, CGC Adeniyi expressed delight at the recognition, noting that it demonstrated that the efforts of the Service under his leadership were being noticed.

“When this kind of recognition comes, naturally, you must be delighted. You must be happy,” he said, adding that the award is also a reminder that there is more work to be done. “This kind of award is a statement of saying that we’ve done well, but we know also that this type of award is a statement of saying we can still do more,” the CGC added.
