Transire Suspension: Customs removes Don Climax, few others from List

The Nigeria Customs Service has removed Don Climax from the list of bonded terminals, warehouses and FTZs suspended from transaire processing. The removal was effected almost immediately following the company’s swift provision of evidence of payment for the flagged SGDs.
In a Notice dated September 25, 2026 with reference No. NCS/ENF/STFT/ABJ/HQ/VOL.1, signed by DCG T. Bomodi in charge of the CGC Special Task Force on Transires, and addressed to all ACG/Zonal Coordinators, Area Controllers, Comptroller CIU &CPU, and Heads of Units, directed them to lift all system and operational controls instituted to give effect to the suspension order.
The Notice reads: “Sequel to the ongoing verification and reconciliation exercise conducted by the CGC Special Task Force on Transires (STFT), forwarded is a list of verified and reconciled bonded warehouses/FTZs.
“You are to lift all system and operational controls instituted to give effect to the Directive.” An attached list contains 13 names of verified and cleared bonded terminals and warehouses.
Explaining the circumstances that saw Don Climax into the list of the 103 bonded terminals and FTZs with unresolved transactions with Customs and, suspended from transire processing, the Terminal Manager, Don Climax Ventures Limited, Tin Can Island Port, Mr. Charles Atasie, said the alleged breach was in respect of seven (7) SGDs at the company’s Amuwo Odofin terminal whose payment was made but could not be captured by Customs.
He explained that on providing all the relevant documents and proofs of payment, the company was immediately cleared and has since resumed normal transactions.
Corroborating, the terminal manager, the MD/CEO of the company, Obelle Donatus, said, “Amuwo Odofin terminal had seven SGDs not seen in the system. It took the TM (Terminal Manager) less than a few minutes to provide them with the SGDs, Exit Notes, and payment receipts, and the company was swiftly cleared.”
On the company’s subsidiary, ILED Bonded Terminal in Onne which was also suspended, he explained that payment for the affected SGD was made as far back as February. He said the evidence of payment and exit clearance was provided and the issue was promptly resolved.
He, however, regretted that the company’s name was included in such a list that conveys the impression of fraudulent transactions, and contains names of terminals that may have been involved in shady deals or tampering with government revenue. He maintained that Don Climax was always mindful of its reputation, and abhors dirty transactions or diversion of government revenue.
Recall that the Nigeria Customs Service had in September announced the immediate suspension of 103 bonded terminals, warehouses and free trade zones FTZs) from transire processing.
A transire is the essential document which authorizes the movement of cargo from the seaport to an off-dock bonded facility, without which the facility cannot receive or transfer containerized goods.
According to Customs, the suspension order became necessary because the companies had failed to reconcile past transactions, leading to audit back-log which must be cleared before further transire approvals could be obtained.
